The Supermarket Part 1

A SHOPPING LIST

Here’s the list for the supermarket. We need fruit, so get some bananas, 4 apples and some kiwis.
Also, for the vegetable stew we need 1 kilo, er… no make that 2 kilos of potatoes, some spring onions and get a few carrots as well.
Get 2 loaves of white bread and 2 pints of milk. Oh, and your sister likes red wine, so get a bottle of that for her. We need some of that French cheese. Mmm… that’s delicious and we don’t have toilet paper, so get some more and pick up a few sodas for the weekend.
This will cost around 20 €. I will give the cashier four 5€ bills.

The teacher will bring all of these products, the receipt, the magazine and fake money to class. We will act out a small play with the following characters:

-          Customers.
-          Cashiers.
-          1 baker.

The cashiers will have the magazine and the flashcards with the prices of the products on them. They have to look for the price in the magazine and give the “price flashcard” to the customer.
Customers will have to look for the flashcards with the name of the products they have chosen. They have to give the flashcard with the name of the product and the product to the cashier.
Each customer will take one product.
The cashier will tell the price of the product to the customer and the customer will pay. Then the cashier will give the change according to the price.
Finally, we will add all the fake money to know how much we have payed and the amount of change that we received.

Customer – cashier dialogue.
-          Customer: “Good morning”.
-          Cashier: “Good morning”
-          Customer: “How much does the _________ cost?”
-          Cashier: “The __________ cost _____ euros”.
-          Customer:” Thank you”.
-          Cashier: “You are welcome”.

Customer – baker dialogue.
-          Baker: “Good morning”.
-          Customer: “Good morning”
-          Baker: “what kind of bread do you want?”
-          Customer: “I want those __________right there”.
-          Customer: “Thank you”.
-          Baker: “You are welcome”.

The Alphabet Chant



Today, we are going to learn the Alphabet. Teacher will bring the lyrics of the song for the kids.
The learning of the Alphabet will be developed following the next steps:

Step 1: Viewing of the video.
Step 2: Give each child a copy of the lyrics
Step 3: The teacher recites the Alphabet for the kids without the video.
Step 4: The children and the teacher recite the Alphabet with the video.

Finally, we will make a Bingo with the letters of the Alphabet. The teacher will give an outline of each letter to each child and they will have to coloured it. The teacher will give a template with all the letters of the Alphabet and the children will have to choose 6 letters. Then, we will start with the Bingo, firstly the teacher will show the letter that they have coloured in and will say the letter. After this, we will play again, but without showing the letters, only saying them aloud. The winner will receive a prize.

PS: If any child presents hearing difficulties, this video will be a good activity for them. It's very important to develop an all-inclusive attitude in classrooms from a young age, learning Sign Language is an exercise in empathy and something that should be encouraged in chldren.

The Times Tables



These activity is good for consolidating previously acquired knowledge.

Today, we are going to learn the Time Tables. Teacher will bring a copy of the Times Tables of the song for the kids.

The learning of the Times Tables will be developed following the next steps:

Step 1: Viewing of the video.
Step 2: Give each child a copy of the Times Tables.
Step 3: The teacher recites the Times Tables for the kids without the video.
Step 4: The children and the teacher recite the Times Tables with the video.

We will play a "King of the Court". We will divide the class into 4 groups and the teams will face off against each other in pairs. The teacher will call out 10 multiplications for each round, the first team to correctly answer the multiplication problem wins the point.

One Man Band

Teacher will bring flashcards with a variety of named instruments. They will repeat with the teacher after him. After that, the teacher will cover the name of the instrument and they will have to remember the name of the instrument.

Short story and questions


The lazy bear.


It’s spring in the forest. The snow has gone, leaves are growing and the animals are waking up.
Bruno the bear is still asleep. He doesn’t know that it’s spring.

‘Listen! Bruno is snoring!’

Now it’s summer. It’s warm and the animals are having lots of fun. But where’s Bruno?

Now it’s autumn. The leaves are turning red, yellow and orange. The animals are getting ready for winter. But where’s Bruno?

Giant Abacus


For this activity we need the following materials:

- 3 balls of wool.
- 30 cardboard cylinders.
- Red, blue and yellow paint.
- Paint brushes.
- Tape.

The activity consist of making a giant abacus in class. We will continue the following procedure:

1. Paint the cardboard cylinders one colour in sets of ten.
2. Measure the string of wool and cut it to size of the classroom's width.
3. Slide the cardboard cylinders onto the string and attach the string to the wall.

We will use the abacus as a resource for learning to count and for working on basic arithmetic.

Teacher will have to explain the different floors and rooms have.

1. How many rooms does your house have?
2. How many floors does house has?
3. Draw your own house?
4. Which is your favourite room of the house?

Then, the tacher will talk about the things there are in each room. He will ask where is any item of the house.

Where is the bed?
Where is the sofa?
Where is the washing machine?
...

After that, the teacher will ask, but about their houses items the same questions.
